Terry Frost of Copper Ridge Elementary School and Elisa Luna of Inskip Elementary school led their schools to be in the top ten elementary schools in the state for the academic growth students experience from one school year to the next. Farragut teacher to attend Supreme Court Summer InstituteFrances Daniels, a teacher at Farragut High School, will travel to Washington, DC this June to attend the prestigious Supreme Court Summer Institute. After a highly competitive application process, 60 teachers were selected to participate this year. The Institute, open to teachers who demonstrate outstanding ability in the field of law-related and civic education, is co-sponsored by Street Law, Inc. and the Supreme Court Historical Society. The Institute offers teachers the opportunity to study recent Supreme Court Cases in detail and learn innovative teaching methodology for conveying this information to students. Well know Supreme Court lawyers, reporters, and educators will be among the speakers and instructors for the Institute. Teachers will visit the Court and attend a reception there. Upon returning home, teachers will be available to present workshops on the U.S. Supreme Court, and to meet with media to discuss how the new skills and information will apply in their classrooms.

TEA picks two from KCS as administrator, teacher of the year from East Tennessee The
Tennessee Education Association has selected two Knox
County educators to be recognized for their exceptional
performance and has named them East Tennessee’s
best administrator and educator for 2008. TEA has selected
Elisa Luna, principal at Inskip Elementary School as
the organization’s East Tennessee Administrator
of the Year. It has also named Kristy Roop, a fourth
grade teacher at Adrian Burnett Elementary School, East
Tennessee Educator of the Year. (Read

Susan Hutsell, assistant principal at Carter Middle
School, was honored in Nashville at the Tennessee Association
of Secondary School Principals conference and in San

McIntyre, age 40, is married and has two sons. As Chief operating officer of the Boston Public Schools, he managed a district with 56,000 students and an $800M budget. Dr. McIntyre has a Doctorate in public policy from the University of Massachusetts, a master of urban affairs, Boston University, a master's in education administration, Canisius College, and a bachelor's in English, Boston College.
