| Farragut High Science Academy blazing trail for the KCS A poster titled "Determination of Graphene on Nickel (111) by Low Energy Electron Diffraction" graces one of the science lab tables at Farragut High School. Given the subject matter, it could have originated with the great minds at Glencoe Science, and the accompanying credits attribute the work to names with impressive initials (MD, PhD, DEng). But, the first name listed on these posters is often accompanied by the letters FHS for Farragut High School.
Following The Knox County Schools' emphasis on academic rigor, relevance and education partnerships, Farragut High School's Science Academy was conceived in 2006. It has recently seen a dramatic increase not only in participation of students, but also in active collaboration with faculty and staff at the University of Tennessee, the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), and the Knoxville Zoo. |
