Based on an unexpected opinion issued by the Law Director’s Office late yesterday (attached), today’s Joint Education Committee meeting has been cancelled. The next education meeting will be held on Thursday June 13th at 4:30 p.m. in the Andrew Johnson Building.
Because the Joint Education Committee is not exclusively a committee of the School Board nor the County Commission, standing rules and protocols for the Committee will be developed at the next meeting.

There could be two or more Knox County Board of Education members present at the Feb. 22 Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) "Day on the Hill." The event will be fromn 7 to 9 a.m. at the Downtown Sheraton in Nashville. Each February, TSBA sponsors a legislative breakfast in Nashville bringing school board members, superintendents and state legislators together for a discussion about pending legislation and public education.
