The Knox County Schools began rolling out its “Tip411” program throughout its 29 middle and high schools in mid-Octoberr. The initiative is a partnership between the Knox County Schools and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
Students who feel unsafe or have a need to anonymously report potential violence, drugs, bullying, or other sensitive issues, can do so through Tip411. The tip will be responded to in real time by authorized security or other personnel within the Knox County Schools, or law enforcement if needed.
“We want students to feel comfortable communicating with us in a variety of ways about issues that impact their safety and the security of their schools,” said Dr. Jim McIntyre, Superintendent of the Knox County Schools. “The Tip411 program allows us to leverage texting, a technology that our students are very comfortable with, to receive information that will help us to keep our students and our schools safe.”
To use Tip411, students text 847411, keyword knoxschools, then a space, then input the tip.
All tips are anonymous.
