Habit Human-Animal Bond in Tennessee (H.A.B.I.T.) brings animal-assisted therapy and visitation programs to a wide range of facilities in East Tennessee. H.A.B.I.T. organizes a network of volunteers who, with their pets, visit nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, elementary and middle schools, hospitals, and public libraries. H.A.B.I.T. volunteers will bring their medically and behaviorally evaluated dogs to schools so that the students can interact with them. Students receive psychological and physical benefits from animal interaction. The goal of H.A.B.I.T. is to bring a nonjudgmental and unconditionally loving animal into the schoolhouse to create a supportive environment for students.
